Phonak Accessories & Battery Troubleshooting Guide
Phonak accessories are designed to enhance your hearing aid experience—whether through direct streaming, easier volume control, or better sound in group settings. Like any technology, they can occasionally run into issues. This guide covers common troubleshooting tips for:
Phonak PartnerMic
Phonak RemoteControl
Phonak TV Connector
Battery & charging concerns
1. Phonak PartnerMic Troubleshooting
The PartnerMic is a wireless lapel microphone that transmits speech directly to your hearing aids via Bluetooth.
Common Issues & Fixes:
a. No Sound Transmitting
Ensure the PartnerMic is paired with your hearing aids (press and hold the main button for 3 seconds until the LED blinks blue).
Bring the mic within 20cm of the hearing aids during pairing.
Make sure the mic is worn vertically and not covered by clothing.
b. Device Won’t Turn On
Charge the device using the supplied cable for at least 2 hours.
Ensure the charger or USB port is working.
Press and hold the button for 10 seconds to force a reset.
c. Distorted Audio or Dropouts
Keep the microphone within 20 metres of the hearing aids.
Avoid placing the mic near Wi-Fi routers or smartphones during use.
Check for interference from metal jewellery or dense clothing layers.
2. Phonak RemoteControl Troubleshooting
The Phonak RemoteControl allows you to adjust volume and change hearing aid programs discreetly.
Common Issues & Fixes:
a. Not Responding to Button Presses
Replace the battery (CR2032 coin cell).
Check for proper battery orientation.
Try re-pairing with the hearing aids by holding all three buttons until the LED blinks.
b. Remote Not Connecting to Hearing Aids
Ensure both hearing aids are turned on and within 1 meter of the remote.
If pairing fails, restart the hearing aids and repeat the pairing process.
Avoid strong radio interference from phones, routers, or TVs during pairing.
c. Inconsistent Volume Changes
Confirm the hearing aids are compatible with the RemoteControl model.
Make adjustments while wearing both hearing aids and check for delays.
3. Phonak TV Connector Troubleshooting
The TV Connector allows direct audio streaming from your TV or media device to your hearing aids.
Common Issues & Fixes:
a. No Sound Streaming
Make sure the TV Connector is plugged into the correct audio output (preferably optical or 3.5mm jack).
Check volume levels on the TV and hearing aids.
Ensure the LED on the TV Connector is solid green (paired) or blinking green (searching).
b. TV Connector Not Detected by Hearing Aids
Press the connect button on the TV Connector.
Keep hearing aids within 1 metre during pairing.
Restart the hearing aids and try again.
c. Audio Lag or Echo
If the TV speakers are also on, try muting them or switching to “headphones only” mode.
Use direct audio input (optical or aux) rather than HDMI ARC to minimise delay.
d. LED Light Not Turning On
Ensure the power cable is fully plugged into both the connector and a live power socket.
Try a different USB plug if using a power adapter.
4. Battery & Charging Tips (for Accessories)
All Phonak accessories require power—either via USB charging or disposable coin batteries.
Troubleshooting Tips:
Check for Charging Light Indicators: Red or blinking lights may indicate charging or pairing issues.
Try a Different Cable or Port: Especially if the accessory isn’t charging or powering on.
Allow Time to Reset: After a full discharge, some devices need 30 seconds to reboot once plugged in.
Replace Coin Cell Batteries Every 3–6 Months: Especially in remotes that seem unresponsive.
Store Devices in a Cool, Dry Place: Avoid humidity or high temperatures, especially for rechargeable items.
